Conference PDO „Because Packaging and Our Planet Matter 2025”

097

The PDO Conference, Because Packaging and Our Planet Matter 2025, was a game-changer in the packaging industry. Held at the Żnin Sugar Factory in March 2025, it gathered experts and visionaries to redefine the industry’s ecological future. Organized by Pałucka Drukarnia Opakowań (PDO) in cooperation with Miraclon, the event tackled sustainability head-on.

The EU PPWR Regulation is tightening rules, making eco-friendly packaging not just an option but a necessity. The key takeaway? Packaging can be sustainable, visually appealing, and cost-effective—but it demands courage and investment.
Notable moments included Piotr Pustelnik’s speech, likening climate challenges to extreme climbing, and leadership expert Paweł Motyl’s insights on adaptation and the black swan effect—suggesting green solutions are a defining shift for the industry.

Kraus Folie’s footprint
This edition of the conference would not have been possible without the active participation of our company.
Firstly, we had a dedicated stand offering expertise from our representatives: Maja Pokojowy, Natalia Pawlak, Grzegorz Cholewiński, Kamil Tobiasz and Marcin Kraus. Each participant could pick up information and discuss existing packaging made from film dedicated to green transformation.

Secondly, we made a significant impact on the conference stage, particularly in terms of our carbon footprint. During the discussion panel ‘Global climate policy and its impact on the European packaging market and business’, Michał Mielcarek effectively pointed out, in response to questions from the host (PDO Sales Director, Małgorzata Rein), that the revolution is in fact an evolution, and that raw material solutions for fully recyclable packaging are already available. This is because Kraus Folie’s portfolio is ready for Black Swan-scale changes, and our specialists are available to offer expert advice to customers on implementing environmentally friendly and modern packaging solutions. From words to action!

On the second day, participants saw innovation in action at PDO’s headquarters, witnessing CO₂ emission reduction technologies and fully recyclable packaging. Demonstrating real commitment, PLN 50 from each ticket funded forest planting through the Forest Forever foundation.
Was this the start of a revolution? Perhaps. One thing is clear — packaging is no longer just a product accessory; it’s the key to a sustainable future.
